Patricia "Patt" E. Krantz, 89, died Jan. 3, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society-Bethany in Brainerd. Patt was born on March 30, 1921, in Minneapolis as the only child of former Minnesota Governor Floyd B. Olson and his wife, Ada. After graduating from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, she trained in Chicago to become an aircraft communicator for the Civil Aeronautics Administration during World War II. Following the war, she married Albert R. Krantz on Nov. 13, 1945, in Minneapolis and later moved to Brainerd where she was a copy editor, the "Story Lady," and hostess of the morning program "Chat with Patt" at KLIZ Radio. Patt continued her radio career for several years at KVBR Radio. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a longtime participant in the Brainerd Lakes Chapter of Sweet Adelines and was very active in community theatre, including the Geritol Frolics. Patt was also an active volunteer and served as a member of the Senior Class Advisory Board for the Brainerd Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her three children, Karen Enberg, of Brainerd, Steven Krantz, of St. Cloud, and Bryan Krantz, of Orlando, Fla.; and her dear friend, Gary Johnson, of Brainerd. The curtain has fallen on this stage for Patt, but she has joined the cast of those who have gone before her, leaving many fond memories with family and friends.
Visitation for Patt will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Burial will be Friday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the donor's choice are preferred.
