The following article was found on Page 11 of the Southtown, Chicago SOUTHTOWN ECONOMIST edition of Wednesday, June 27, 1945.
MARINE PVT. JOHN B. ABT
A memorial mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Kilian's church, 87th and May sts., for Pvt. John B. Abt who was killed May 4 on Okinawa. Entering service a year ago, he had been overseas since November. Private Abt graduated from Mt. Carmel high school and Mt. Carmel seminary in Niagara Falls, Ont., for three years.
Besides his parents four brothers, Martin, Sergeant Philip, Private Charles, and Corp. Thomas Abt, and two sisters, Rosemary and Betty Abt, survive him.
Marine Pvt. John B. Abt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Abt, 8530 Aberdeen St.
