Margaret B. Buttke

Margaret B. Buttke, 92, Wausau, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002.

She was born to the late Otto and Emma (Fehlhaber) Anklam on Sept. 5, 1910, in the town of Berlin. In her early years she worked as a nanny and later at Marathon Shoe. Margaret married Bernhard Buttke on Sept. 29, 1929, at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. The couple spent the next 32 years farming in the town of Stettin.

They were blessed with five children, Elaine (Glenn) Oelke, Marathon, Marlene (Merlin) Pruss, Hamburg, LouAnn (Donald) Zamzow, Schofield, Allen (Karen) Buttke, Wausau and Bonita Buttke, Minnetonka, Minn. 16 grandchildren, Suzanne (Jack) Young, Steven (Barb) Oelke, Timothy (Kim) Pruss, John (Paula) Pruss, Michael (Mary) Zamzow, Laurie (Roy) Heilmeier, Jayne (Andrew) Theo, Thomas (Brenda) Zamzow, Scott (Mary) Buttke, Kristen (Philip) Nowak, Clark (Cheryl) Buttke, Lee (Tamara) Buttke, Robert Machel, Sara (Jeff) Beach, Holly Machel and Heidi Machel 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband (Sept. 8, 1960) parents brothers, Fred, Ervin, Karl, Harry and William and sisters, Clara Luedtke, Erna Hilmershausen and Esther Nass.

Margaret was in the Senior Citizens Pool League for 15 years, was a member of the Good Timers Club, Senior Citizens Card Club and a Birthday Club. She enjoyed needlework, cooking, baking, cards, dancing and bingo.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Stettin. The Rev. Clarence Gall will officiate. Burial will follow at the Stettin Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Helke Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.
