Mr. Wolfe's obituary was published in the "Shelby Star":

"Forrest Wolfe

SHELBY Mr. Forrest Alexander Wolfe, 89, of 1107 Mark Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002.

Born in Cleveland County on Jan. 19, 1913, he was the son of the late Sanford R. and Julia Sellers Wolfe and the foster son of the late George F. and Pearle Goode Wolfe.

He was superintendent of the U.S. Post Office in Shelby where he retired after 40 years of service. He served in the Marine Corps from 1931 to 35. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby, where he was a member of the Hoey Bible Class and the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the Shelby Kiwanis Club where he served as a secretary for 16 years; an active member of the Broad River Genealogical Society; the National Federation of Retired Federal Employees; and the Marine Corps League.

He was preceded in death by brothers Moffatt, Lloyd, Robert, Blair, Ellington, Carl and W.C.; and sisters Vivian Phifer, Lillian McCormack and Willie Mae Wolfe.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Shytle Wolfe; two daughters, Jane Wolfe Haw of Ridgewood, N.J., and Anna Wolfe Goddard of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Julia Haw and David Smith of Cinncinati, Alex Haw of New York City, Jay and Lisa Goddard of Potomac, Md., and Jenna Goddard of Atlanta; sisters, Margaret Wolfe Williams of Charlotte, Sarah F. Wolfe and husband, Robert Rish, of Rayland, Ohio; and a foster sister, Sarah Van Aken of Cherryville.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Drs. John Boggs and Joe Reeves officiating.

Pallbearers will be the members of Hoey Bible Class. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on today from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
