Television Sportsman. He gained notority through his nationally syndicated television show "Championship Fishing" which lasted for 27 seasons. He was founder of the Bass Buster Lure Company in Amsterdam, Missouri in 1955. He carried the patent for the fiber weed guard which is still used in manufacturing jigs today. Virgil won several major fishing tournaments in the 1960's. He wrote a syndicated column which appeared in over 450 newspapers and he was host of a radio fishing show on 200 stations across America. (bio by: J. D. McConnell)
