Obituary:
"Taken from article of John Patrick Dinnin (per retyped copy from Mary Lott): Death of Mr. John Dinnin - On Saturday, July 29, at Cario [sic], W.Va. death summoned a pioneer resident of Ritchie County, when it took Mr. John Dinnin after a lingering illness of complications of diseases. He bore his suffering great patience, never murmuring during his long illness, but often expressed himself as being perfectly resigned to the will of God. His calmness and resignation and many acts of humility during his illness manifested his true faith. Mr. Dinnin was born at August [sic], Me., Sept. 23, 1833. He came to W.Va. in the early 60's. He resided at Volcano until a year ago, when he moved to Cario [sic]. He was always a devout member of the Catholic Church and attended regular until later years when his health would not permit him to travel the rough roads. He leaves a wife and six children, Mrs. James Davis, Mrs. Ellsworth Davis of Toronto, Ohio; Frank, James, William and Charles of Cario [sic], W.Va. All were present at the funeral. The Catholic religion lost a teacher of christianity [sic] that dated back to his early manhood when he taught among the indians [sic]. And the community in which he resided lost a strong benefactor and friend. He will long be remembered for his charity in thought, word and action, as he was first to answer a call of distress where ever or what ever it was. When death darkened the door of a neighbor he was there offering consolation and help. He was sought by all in troouble for comfort and advice, which was cheerfully given. Mr. Dinnin was a well educated man, a good kind father, reliable upright citizen who always took an active interest in anything pertaining to the welfare of the community. He was a carpenter by trade, some years ago he and his sons erected the little church at Eatons, beside which the remains were laid to rest. The family have the deep sympathy of their many friends."
