DIED – In this city on the 16th inst. Mrs. ANNA ELLERY, widow of the late Capt. Eppes Ellery, of Baltimore, Md., in the 70th year of her age. Mrs. Ellery was a native of Watertown, Mass., but spent the greater part of her life, subsequent to her marriage, in the city of Baltimore, from whence she came to this place about five years ago since which she has resided chiefly in LaGrange, much respected and beloved by all her acquaintances. Mrs. Ellery was noted for urbanity and dignity of manner, gentleness of disposition, mental refinement and remarkable conversational powers. Her discourse abounded in descriptions and anecdotes of olden times; and her ready wit, well stored memory and constant flow of spirits, gave a charm to her society and made her always an agreeable companion. During her brief continuance in this State she experienced several severe domestic afflictions, which she bore with more than ordinary equanimity and resignation. She was a communicant in the Protestant Episcopal Church to which she professed the most ardent attachment; while yet she cherished towards all other Christian denominations the most liberal and fraternal sentiments. Her last illness was of brief duration; but though the advent of her death was sudden, it was not unexpected, nor did it find her unprepared. Conscious of a well spent life, and trusting in the merits of her Redeemer, she spoke with composure and delight of her approaching rest, and anticipated reunion with sanctified spirits who had gone before her to the better land; and then, after an illness of about five days, fell asleep in Jesus.
She was married to EPPES ELLERY II. Aged 60 years.
