Peter Grove served his country during the Revolutionary War period, serving in the PA Rifle Regiment commanded by Capt. Christ & Col. Miles. He also served with the Rangers on the frontier in Northumberland & Cumberland counties.
He married Sarah Whitmore, daughter of Revolutionary War patriot Peter Whitmore (Witmer), 25 Dec 1781, Shamokin Twp., Northumberland Co., PA.
They had a family of ten children: Elizabeth (Pearson, Welsh); Mary "Polly" (Myers); John; Jacob; Susan (Haslet); Peter; George; Sarah (Miller); William; & Fanny (Reed). Sarah died in 1844 near Wallaceville, Venango Co., PA.
Peter drowned in the Susquehanna River near Lock Haven (then Lycoming Co., now Clinton Co.) after participating in a shooting contest.
