Killed in action at Gettysburg,PA.
Pvt Coyle was killed between 2:00 and 2:45 p.m., during Picketts charge on the Union Center, he was located in the area near the Copse Trees, which was attacked by Gen Armisteads Brigade. The 69th was located just West of present day Hancock Ave. He was killed by canister fired by the 1st NY Battery. He was buried on Peter Frey's farm until his re-interment in the National Cemetery.
