Funeral services for Shirley D. Swanner, 64, of Damariscotta Mills were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Damariscotta Mills Church, the Rev. H.C. Schjeveland officiating. Interment was at Highland Cemetery, Damariscotta Mills.
Mr. Swanner died November 20 at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a long illness.
He was born in Rexburg, Idaho, August 5, 1894, the son of Samuel Swanner and Celia Taylor Swanner.
Mr. Swanner was a resident of Belfast from 1926 to 1936, during which time he was a member of the Belfast Fire Department. He then moved to Damariscotta Mills where he was a resident for 22 years. He was a founding member of the Menhata Fire Company of Damariscotta Mills.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bertha Parsons Swanner of Damariscotta Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Chickering of Alna, and Mrs. Irene Leeman of Walpole; one sister, Mrs. Diverta Griffeth of Spokane, Wash.; a half-brother, Sterling Swanner of Rigby, Idaho, and three grandchildren.
