Enlisted on Aug 29, 1861, as a Private in Leake's VA Light Artillery. On October 8, 1862, he was transferred out and into King William VA Light Artillery. On May 12, 1863 he was sick with typhoid fever in Richmond, Virginia. On October 1, 1863, he was sick with debilitas. On February 12, 1864, he was POW at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. In 1864 he was confined at Belle Plain, Virginia, and then confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, where he died as a Prisoner of War.
