Frederick W. Garrison was born Sept. 27, 1873, at New Hartford, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Church Garrison, and died at Perry, Iowa, March 21, following a three-day illness with pneumonia, with which he was stricken at Adel while covering his territory as salesman for the Glasener Grain Shocker company of Cedar Falls.
He was married on February 8, 1899 to Miss Emily Maud Baker. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive. They include Paul, Donald, Eva (deceased) Robert, Zelpha, Dorothy, all of this city, and Mrs. Ruth Fink of Oelwein. Mr. Garrison engaged in farming following his marriage and was later in the mercantile business and at the time of his death was in sales work. He had resided near this city most of his life, but spent several years at Oelwein, moving to Cedar Falls two years ago last June.
Mr. Garrison was converted at the age of 21 while residing at Finchford, Iowa, and united with the Church of Christ there. He continued strong in the faith to the time of his demise, being a leader in the first Church of Christ in this city. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ here Thursday and burial was made at Finchford beside his daughter.
