World War II veteran, US Navy. GM3C US Naval Armed Guards. [The Naval Armed Guards were US Navy gun crews assigned to merchant ships to defend them from air and naval surface or submarine attacks. Their unofficial service motto was "never abandon ship while the guns are still serviceable!"].

Married to Eleanor Catherine Schmitt for more than 56 years until her death in 2003, they were long time residents of Beltsville, MD.
