James served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24D #42-40886, 64th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Rockland County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 19, 1942 at Fort Jay, Governor's Island, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Single, without dependents.

James was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24 crashed near Mount Eiyawaiy and Engati in Morobe Province during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # 32432306

James' remains were recovered and identified in 2009. He is now interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. " Click Here " for that record!
