She was the daughter of the late Samuel Thurlow and Fannie Williams Taylor.

She was a graduate of Limestone College and a retired school teacher with the Lancaster County School System. She was a a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; Jess B. Tatum and a brother; Arnold B. Taylor of Hyattsville, MD.
