JANET D. POORMAN, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Born Nov. 6, 1933, in Yoder, she was a daughter of the late William and Clara (Swank) Myers. She worked at Montgomery Ward and later at Perfection Biscuit Bakery where she retired. She was a member of the Fort Wayne Red Hats, Elmhurst Alumni Card Club, and International Church of God where she served as treasurer. She will be remembered as a great seamstress and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving family include her husband of 61 years, Donald Poorman of Fort Wayne; children, Donald (Theresa) Poorman II and Sherry McGinnis, both of Fort Wayne; siblings, William Myers, Gary (Shirley) Myers and Jim (Gerri) Myers; grandchildren, Sara, Becca, Mariah, Heather, Matt, Adam, and Lance; and great-grandchildren, Joey, Logan, Tristan, Megan, Clara, Emily, and George. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry McGinnis; granddaughter, Trisha; and great- granddaughter, Elizabeth.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
