Dorothy M. (Lauzau) Ackerson, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Buffalo General Hospital. She was 71. She was born in Niagara Falls on March 31, 1941, a daughter of the late Wilbur F. and Winifred (Burridge) Lauzau. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.
Dorothy married Robert Ackerson in 1961 and they remained happily married for 51 years, until her passing. She was an avid Elvis Presley collector and fan, but her greatest joy was her time with her family, especially her five grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, Debra (Daniel) Hinman, Robert (Janet) Ackerson, Jr., William Ackerson and Dennis (Kelly) Ackerson; five grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Christopher, Alexis and Kyle. She is also survived by six siblings, Wilbur (Patricia) Lauzau, Ronald (Marie) Lauzau, Joan (late Robert) McCarthy, John (Joan) Lauzau, Nancy (Herbert) Nelson, Mary (Ralph) Vescio; and 29 nieces and nephews.
