Born May 24, 1889, in Keokuk, he came to Fort Madison as a small child. He was married to Margaret K. Huesser on May 1, 1912. He was employed by the Santa Fe as a conductor. He belonged to the Eagles, the Izaak Walton league, and the B. of R. C. The deceased is survived by his widow; three sons, John, Davenport, George, Jr. Richard, Local; two daughters, Mrs. Morris (Irene) Griswold, and Mrs. Vencil (Mildred) DeLong, local; one brother, Dave, Knoxville; two sisters, Mrs. Robert J. Kemp, and Mrs. Nancy Wilson, Chicago; and six grandchildren. Funeral services for George Britton, 63, 1830 Avenue G, who died Monday, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Nieters Chapel with the Rev. George Hoeflinger officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery. Pallbearers were J.D. Carroll, B.G. Mackey, G.G. Linn, B. Linn, C.H. Dalton and R. L. Coster.
