Mercer County native Carl H. Brookhart, 80, of Lima, died at 11:20 a.m. Aug. 15, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Mercer County, to Homer and Lydia Good Brookhart. On March 30, 1945, he married Ruth Ilena Burke who died Sept. 19, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Daniel Carl, and twin daughters, Barbara J. Brookhart and Beverly J. Young, all of Lima; a brother, Stanley (Trudy) of Lima; five sisters, Dorothy Rice, Lima, Loa (Birdall) Walker, St. Marys, Wanda (Lowell) Ferner, Portland, Ind., Beulah (Billie) Buck, Celina, and Janice Hone, Mendon; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Donald, and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Price and Joe Hone.
He was a retired plumber and skilled trades committeeman at Ford Motor Co. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and attended Shawnee Alliance Church. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1219.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, the Rev. Daniel Messner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Swamp College Cemetery near Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
