Edith K. Boling, age 98, of Harrison, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009, in Harrison. She was born November 29, 1910, in Keener, Arkansas, near Bergman, the daughter of Milton and Rosetta (Markley) Keener. Mrs. Boling was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaRoy G. Boling; three brothers; three sisters; and a nephew.
Edith had been in failing health for several years. She attended grade school at Lone Star School before completing her high school years at the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. After high school graduation, she received secretarial training and worked as a bookkeeper for several years. She moved to California and met her future husband. She married LaRoy Boling in December, 1938, and was happily married for nearly sixty years until his death in 1998.
During their life together, Edith and Roy lived in California, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. Roy was employed by Texaco as an engineer. Upon retirement, the Bolings chose Harrison and the beautiful Ozarks. Edith resided in Harrison from 1973 until present…36 years. She enjoyed gardening, New Orleans-style jazz, crossword puzzles and dogs. She even wrote poetry. She was an avid supporter of the Boone County Historical Museum.
Edith K. Boling is survived by seven nieces and two nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Rev. John Darnall will officiate the funeral service. Friends are pallbearers.
