Cleo Mamie Berry of St. Helens died on March 11, 2000 at a local care center. She was 93. Mrs. Berry was born on November 10, 1906 near Kingston, Arkansas to John and Ota (Sisco) Smith. In 1945, she moved to the Yakima Valley in Washington and she moved to the St. Helens area in 1970. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Berry had worked in a cannery in the Yakima Valley until 1970. She was a member of Sunset Park Community Church. Considered to be an excellent cook, Mrs. Berry also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and making quilts. Her husband, Floyd Eli Berry, died in 1970. She is survived by her sons, Walter Berry of Jay, Oklahoma, and Raymond Berry and Vondean Berry, both of Yakima, Washington, daughter, Viola Mae Barrick of St. Helens; brother, Paul Smith of Sequim, Washington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Euel, and Gene; and a sister, Mearl. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Columbia Funeral Home. Burial was in Reservation Community Memorial Park in Wapato, Washington.
