Dr. Stuart Beall Phipps, left us unexpectedly on September 14, 2013, at about 3:30 PM in Kansas City, Missouri. Stuart was born in Washington, D.C. on May 13, 1958, the son of Ronnie Phipps and the late June Phipps.

Survived was by: beloved life partner of 36 years, Carlos Castro, parents, Ronnie and Jean Phipps; brother, Sander Phipps; nephews, Brent and Brian; dogs, Monty and Savvy and a host of family and friends.

Stuart touched many lives and will be dearly missed by his extended chosen family. A professor of education at the University of St. Mary, Stuart was also an inspirational teacher and mentor for many in the Blue Valley school district, Rockhurst University, and University of Missouri-Kansas City, as well as an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to these, his greatest joy was Carlos and the life they shared with their dogs.

Stuart was predeceased in death by: Mother, June Phipps.

Memorial service and reception Friday, September 20, 2013 at 6 p.m. St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1307 Holmes, Kansas City, Missouri.

Inurnment was in St. Mary's Episcopal Church Columbarium, Kansas City, Missouri.
