Matthew Bowens’ dream came true when he joined the Detroit police force in December of 2000. He died February 16, 2004 doing what he loved best, protecting the people of Detroit. Detroit Police Officer Matthew Bowens was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop. Matt was 21 years old, the youngest of four sons. He was single and living at home with his parents at the time of his death. His partner Police Officer Jennifer Fettig was also killed.
