Death: Oct. 17, 2009

GROVER - Bishop O.B. "Tobe" Brintley, 72, of 115-A Temple Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born June 10, 1937, to the late Dolphus and Mary Hopper Brintley. Bishop Brintley was a kind and loving husband and father and was founder and pastor of Bethlehem Temple Church in Grover, where he was pastor for 39 years. He was also residing as bishop over seven churches in North Carolina. Bishop Brintley was the owner of Brintley and Sons, Inc., in which he did building, carpentry and painting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lillie Corry Brintley; four brothers; six sisters; and a grandson.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Mother Ruby Mae Brintley; seven sons, Bruce Brintley (Phoebe) of Shelby, Deacon Stephen Brintley (Venise) of Mooresboro, Deacon Jerry Brintley (Verl) of Grover, Bishop John Brintley (Veronica) of Mooresboro, Timothy Brintley, Thomas "Tom Brown" Hopper and Carl Lockhart, all of Shelby; four daughters, Minister Janice Brintley of the home, Kathy Beasley of Shelby, Lillie Dawkins (Paul) of Gastonia and Debra Lockhart of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers; nine sisters; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; good friend, Robert Young of Shelby; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
