CHERRYVILLE Johnnie Garrison Boggs age 71 of 1012 Ranbar St., died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Love. The burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville, NC. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Mr. Boggs was born September 8, 1928, in Lincoln County, N.C., son of the late John Boggs and Gertie Lee Garrison Boggs. He was employed as a Long-line driver for Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. of Cherryville and retired after 30 1/2 years of service. A member of Second Baptist Church of Cherryville, N.C., Mr. Boggs was a veteran of the US Navy WWII and also the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Boggs, of the home; sons, Johnnie Garrison Boggs, Jr. of Lincolnton, Lacey C. Allen of Fairfax, SC; Willie B. Allen of Fairfax, SC; daughters Patricia Boggs of Lincolnton, NC, Diane Rippy of Gastonia, NC; Diane Hadwin, Sycamore, SC; brothers, Frank Boggs of Mt. Holly, NC; sisters, Fleta Harrill of Lincolnton, NC; Beatrice Buckner of Belmont, NC, Bryte Lutz of Lincolnton, NC; Ethel Wilkinson of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Dawn Rippy, Mike Boggs, Rebecca Boggs, Ian Sanders, Vanden Allen, great grandchild, Taylor Boggs. Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home will be serving the family of Mr. Boggs.
