OBITUARY: Chillicothe Gazette November 01, 1965

Charles F. Lewis, 73, of 253 E. Fourth St. died Sunday afternoon in Chillicothe Hospital. He had been ill since March. Mr. Lewis was a conductor with the B&O for 47 years, retiring Dec. 30, 1959. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Byer Christian Church, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen the Order of Railroad Brakemen and Conductors and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees. The son of John A. and Sarah Hicks Lewis, he was born Sept. 23, 1892, in Richland. On July 30, 1917, he married Anna A. Remy, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. George (Marie) Bonner of Columbus and Mrs. Cora B. Slack of Gothenburg, Neb.; and a brother, Frank of Cincinnati. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Fawcett-Oliver Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Lusher officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
