BARBARA JEAN BROWN, 22, Towanda RD 4, Monroe Twp., died June 28, 1983, in Georgia. Born March 7, 1961, in N. Towanda, she was the daughter of Morris E. and Erdean Bedford Brown. Upon graduation from Towanda High School in 1979, she entered the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, NJ. She was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, at the time of her death. She is survived by her parents, Morris and Erdean Bedford Brown, at home: a sister, Linda Brown, at home; three brothers: Harold D. of New Port Richey, Fla., James R. and Jake E. Brown, both at home: her paternal grandparents, Earl B. and Ruth E. Brown, Sr., of Monroeton RD 1; maternal grandparents, Charles H. and Hazel R. Bedford of Canton RD 1; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held at the Terrytown Baptist Church Monday at 1:30 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. David Steuerwald, officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. The Towanda American Legion Post #42 will conduct a military ceremony at the cemetery on Monday.
