Married Hannah Lorene Baker 02/Jul/1805 at Cape Girardeau Co., MO. Father of seven children.
John Lorance immigrated to Southeast Missouri, at the age of 16, with a man named Daniel Plott. Mr. Plott continued west, and Mr. Lorance stopped at present day Bollinger County. He hired to Major Frederick Bollinger, with whom he worked until he married. After marriage he lived on a farm (later owned by Eli Deck); where he remained until his death. Lorance Township of Bollinger County was named for him.
