Granville was captured on Sept. 12, 1863 at Centerville, Virginia, along with his father and their small militia group.
Granville is the son of John Wilson Armstrong (1820-1864) and Sarah Talbott Armstrong (1826-1860). Granville was not married. His father, John, was also a prisoner of war at Andersonville and died there. His grave is #5011 at this cemetery.
Note: This tombstone reads J.B. Armstrong, but in looking closely at the prison records, think it was just an error in transcribing as other "G's" on the same page look the same. Other records list this grave number for Granville.
