Watauga Democrat Obituary:
Mrs. Louise Melba Storie Rupard, 71, of 1066 Upper Crab Orchard Road, Banner Elk, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 1997, at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk.
She was born July 30, 1926, in the Beech Mountain community of Avery County, to the late Ivey Wilburn and Floy Jones Storie. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Willie S. Rupard; one daughter, Mrs. Judy Mastin and husband, Charles, of Banner Elk and sons, Dean Rupard and wife, Michelle, of Newland and Gary Rupard and wife, Vanessa, of Banner Elk; four sisters, Mrs. Beulah Trivette and husband, Allen, and Mrs. Janice Davis and husband, Edd, all of Elk Park, Mrs. Jewel Cook and husband, Bryant, and Miss Carol Sue Storie, all of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Jack Storie of Elk Park and Chester Storie and wife, Joan, of Spartanburg, S.C. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Pearl Storie, Mrs. Ivalee Davis and Mrs. Alverta Yates and a brother, Charles Storie.
Services will be conducted Friday night at 8 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state from 6:30-8 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Storie and the Rev. J.C. Greene. Graveside services and burial will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Liberty-Matney Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. At other times, friends may call at the home of Gary and Vanessa Rupard, 1078 Upper Crab Orchard Road in the Matney Community.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Liberty-Matney Cemetery Fund, in care of Miss Lavola Carender, 7156 Highway 194 South, Banner Elk, N.C. 28604.
