Theodore Legner, Age 78, Succumbs to Infirmities of
Advanced Age

Theodore Legner, aged 78, Civil war veteran, who served as bugler with Co. D of the 12th Ohio Cavalry, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Steppert, 901 South Street South, Monday, from infirmities due to advanced age.

Besides his daughter, Mr. Legner, who was a cabinetmaker, leaves three grandchildren. He was a member of McCoy Post, G.A.R., and was past chancellor Columbus ledge No. 4, Knights of Phythias. Funeral services will be held at the Livingston M.E. Church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Friends invited. Interment will be made at Green Lawn, in charge of Glenn L. Myers.

Theodore was a Civil War Veteran - 12th Ohio Cavalry - Company D - Bugler - Union Army. He enlisted 20 October 1863 at age 19. His father is listed as John Legner born in Prussia. The 1900 and 1910 Federal Census of Franklin County [Columbus], Ohio states that Theodore came to America 1852.

After Theodore's Uncle August Legner died 1868, he married August's wife, Katharine.
