MADILL ‹ Graveside rites for Charles Raymond Hewitt, 85, were 3 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Cemetery with Lyndol Adams officiating.
Born Dec. 22, 1913, at Coleman, he died July 8, 1999, at a Madill hospital following a long illness.
He was reared at Henryetta, Okmulgee and Bowlegs. In 1932 he began a career as a pipeline welder. He married Geraldine Lucille Harwell April 12, 1945, at Tishomingo. Hewitt had been a member of the Pipe Liners Union 798 at Tulsa since 1965. He retired at age 72 and lived at Little City since 1985. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Donald K. Allyn, Florence, Ala., and Buster Hewitt, Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Joan Dibella, Galveston, Texas, and Charlotte Woods, Madill; two sisters, Augusta Johnston, Milo, and Betty Ham, Ardmore, 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
