Birth: 1846
Death: Jun. 22, 1874
DeWitt County
Texas, USA

He was a signor, on the Taylor side, of the 1873 peace treaty between the Sutton-Taylor Feud clans. Sometime just before June 14, 1874, Tuggle, James M "Doc" Bockius, John Elder, G W Parkes, Thomas Bass, Rufus P "Scrap" Taylor, and James White were arrested with a herd of 700 supposedly stolen cattle. On the night of June 21-22 a mob broke into the Clinton courthouse and took Tuggle, Taylor, White, and Bockius out to hang. Bockius was a small fellow and managed to escape by hidding behind a larger, fellow Mason. The other three were hanged near the Clinton Cemetery. Taylor was taken to the Taylor-Bennett Family Cemetery and Tuggle and White were buried in unmarked graves in the Clinton Cemetery.
