Mrs. Maxine “Mackie” Crow, 88, of Clovis, Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1916, in Vincennes, Ind., to Stephen and Avevah Rose Nappier.
She married David Crow on June 23, 1940, in Pecos, Texas. They moved to New Mexico in 1940. She was a registered nurse for many years and family members said she was known to go out of her way to give great personal care with compassion. She taught Sunday school for many years and anytime someone in her class had a baby she made a bassenette as a gift. She was the Outstanding Citizen of Melrose in 1973, and was the grand marshal at the Old Timers Day Parade in Melrose in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joe and Bob Nappier; and a sister, Mardelle Nappier.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Coy Brewer will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ronny Fouts, Johnny Lay, Paul Matherly, Bill Holloway, James Bostwick, Tuff Pinnell, Ernest Riley, Jim Lay and Derrill Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home of Portales or First Baptist Church of Melrose.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
