Elizabeth T. Bortner

GLEN ROCK - Elizabeth (Thoman) Bortner, 89, of 3 Glenview Road, who was a retired seamstress, died Monday morning at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Spencer W. Bortner.
The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bortner was born in Manheim Township, the daughter of the late Zachariah and Cora (Krebs) Thoman.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and of its Sunday School. She was a life member of the Lutheran Church Women, a member of the South-central York County Senior Center and of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Formerly employed at local factories as a seamstress, she had retired from the former Savado Brothers Sewing Co. in 1959.
Mrs. Bortner is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Morell A. Newcomer, Glen Rock, and Mrs. Roy Williams Jr., Harrisburg; a foster son, Curvin Schuman, Brodbecks; a foster daughter, Mrs. John F. Miller, Upperco, Md.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Cramer, Glen Rock RD 1, and a brother, William Z. Thoman, Spring Grove RD 2.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kevin T. Shively, supply pastor for Zion Lutheran Church.
