Friendly Wrestling Bout Results In Death Of Man
Abdominal Injury Fatal To Lewis K. Caslow, Of Neiman; Wife Died In February.
Neiman, May 4 – Injuries suffered about a week ago, while he was engaging in a friendly wrestling bout with his foster son, caused the death of Lewis K. Caslow, of this place at 8:48 o'clock tonight at the West Side sanitarium, York. Mr. Caslow had been a patient at the York institution since last Wednesday. Death was due to the effects of a rupture of the intestine.
Caslow was engaged in a game of horseshoes with his foster son, George Kaltreider, and two companions last week, and during the game became engaged in a friendly tussle with the youth, whom he had raised since childhood. Mr. Caslow is said to have been suffering from a hernia, and the wrestling bout aggravated the injury and caused the rupture of the intestines. Dr. W. D. Danner, Spring Grove, was called shortly after the accident occurred and later advised the removal of the man to the hospital.
Mr. Caslow, who was aged 55 years, five months and 24 days, is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert S. Reever, with whom he made his home; his foster son, George Kaltreider, at home; his father, Jacob T. Caslow, Glen Rock R.D. 3; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. William Miller, Brodbeck; Mrs. Adam Glatfelter, this place; Samuel K. Caslow, York; Jacob K. Caslow, John P. Caslow, Glen Rock R.D. 3; and Mrs. W. J. Manchey, Red Lion.
Mr. Caslow was a retired farmer. He had lived in or near this vicinity for his entire life. His body was removed from the York institution this evening for preparation for burial by G. W. Geiple and Son, Glen Rock funeral directors. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed.
Mr. Caslow's death was the second to occur in the family in a few months. On February 23, his wife, Mrs. Sarah Ellen Glatfelter Caslow, succumbed to a complication of diseases.
