|Birth: ||Mar. 28, 1968|
|Death: ||Oct. 25, 1997|
Dawn was born in Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of William and Judith (Hinz) Marcell. She lived in Addison Illinois until she moved to Wisconsin in 1972. She graduated from Wilmont High School in 1985 and married David Brossard on September 19, 1992. She was employed as a loan officer for State Financial Bank in Waterford and Burlington Wisconsin. She was an avid Chicago Bears Football Fan, played the organ at Peace Evangelical Luthern Church in Wilmont and a member of the Wilmont Chamber of Commerce. She went missing in October 1997. Her husband was the last known person to have seen her alive. He reportedly talked to her in the parking lot of State Financial Bank in Burlington and last saw her walking toward her car. She never showed up for work the next day. Her locked and undisturbed car was found in the same bank parking lot she was last seen in. Her body was found July 11, 2003 by scuba divers in Geneva Lake Wisconsin, 120 feet below the surface. Her body was held to the bottom by a weight and chain. Her hands were bound. As of July 2005 her death remains unsolved though her husband has cooperated with the investigation. The family believes others may have seen Dawn after David talked to her, but those others haven't come forward with that information.
Update: In September 2008, David Brossard was arrested and tried for her murder. However, due to the lapse in time from the disappearance to her recovery in 2003, evidence was destroyed, and there was not enough to convict him. He was found not guilty.
