CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Thomas Franklin "Frank" Beddow, 94, formerly of The Villages, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
Mr. Beddow was born in Charlottesville, Va., moved to Florida in 1989 and moved back to Charlottesville in 1996. He was a teacher, a World War II Navy veteran and reservist and retired from the Federal Civil Service. He worked for the Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging in Fredericksburg as executive director until he retired in 1989. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had served as deacon and an elder in Presbyterian churches in various locations where his job took him. He was a member of Charlottesville Elks Lodge #389 and was a past member of the Chancellor Lions Club in Spotsylvania, Va., where he held the offices of secretary and president. While living and working in Charlottesville during the 1960s, he founded and was first president of the Fairview Swim Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Beddow Simpson, Ruckersville, Va.; brother, James Fulton, Charlottesville; sister, Caroyl June Gooch, Charlottesville; and two nieces.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Forney officiating.
