Robert Henry Clausen, 87, of Peoria passed away at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Illiana VA Hospital in Danville.
Robert was born July 10, 1923, in Peoria, a son of Henry M. and Marie Janssen Clausen.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Billy Clausen, Bruce E. Clausen, Dean H. Clausen and Shelby M. Clausen; and one sister, Gladys V. Clausen.
He graduated from Manual Training High School in 1941 and worked at Saals Bakery and Commercial Solvents Plant before entering the Army in World War II. While in the Army, Robert was seriously wounded in Camounce, France, during the Normandy Beach invasion. He was a private first class and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, ETO-Campaign, Combat Badge, American Theater WW II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Robert was a life member of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans Post 1 of Peoria.
His hobbies included Lionel trains, clocks, watches and he admired Big Ben in London, England. He enjoyed jazz music, and his favorite cartoon was Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. He loved Snoopy.
