A heart ailment proved fatal last night at 8:10 o'clock for John David Barnett, 551 South East street, at the Clinton County hospital. He had been in ill health for the past six weeks.

Seventy-eight years old, Mr. Barnett was born a mile east of Boyleston September 2, 1871, son of William Wesley and Charlotte Barnett. On December 23, 1892 he was married to Miss Minnie Jane Moore who survives.

The deceased was retired 12 years ago from service with the Nickel Plate, after 38 years as a blacksmith with the railroad. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World.

Surviving besides the widow is a son, Fred J. Barnett of Odessa, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Mitchell and Mrs. Clarence Campbell, both of Frankfort; two brothers, Bert Barnett of this city and Cliff Barnett of Waukegan, Illiois..

Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Goodwin Funeral Home with Dr. James Lawson and the Rev. W.M. Littrell officiating. Interment will be made in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening.
