BLUFFTON — Funeral services for Doyt Jacob Hanthorn, 84, of Columbus Grove, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, the Revs. Roger Ford, Charles Warren and Dick Potter officiating. Burial, with military rites to be conducted by members of the VFW Post 1275, Lima, will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery, Bluffton.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
Mr. Hanthorn died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
He was born December 8, 1922, in Lafayette, to Clyde and Anna (Zimmer) Hanthorn. He married Wilda Rummel on January 16, 1948, and she survives him in Columbus Grove.
Other survivors include three daughters, Sue (Mike) Steiner and Mary (Kevin) Gratz, both of Bluffton, and Saundra (Chuck) Niswander of Pandora; seven grandchildren; five-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Floyd (June) Hanthorn, Ronald (Linda) Hanthorn and Harold (Marilyn) Hanthorn, all of Lima.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Hanthorn.
Mr. Hanthorn was a winder at Lima Electric and was a farmer. He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, and enjoyed fishing, farming, the Allen County Fair, camping, outdoors and his family. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran who had been a Prisoner of War.
