Edwin O. Karau, 752, Merrill, Route 6, died at 12:10 p.m. Friday in Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill. He has been in ill health for the last seven months.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Dale G. Kuck will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park with military graveside services. Friends may call Wistein's Funeral Home in Merrill from 3 p.m. Saturday until 9:30 a.m. Monday and at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Mr. Karau was born May 31, 1906 in the town of Pine River, Lincoln County, son Albert and Anna Karau. He was married Sept. 24, 1949 in Rochester, Minn., to Katherine Schneider. She died Feb. 11, 1970. He has worked as a mason and construction worker. Mr. Karau served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II with duty in the European Theater. He was a member of Edward Burns Post 46 of the American Legion.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Karau, and a son, Lyle Karau, both of Merrill, Route 6; five sisters, Mrs. Erna Gibson and Mrs. Lucille Bordeaux, both of Hobart, Indiana, Mrs. Celia Lindsey and Mrs. Linda Zack, both of Lake Station, Ind., and Mrs. Annette Mowry, Portage, Ind., and a brother, Leslie Karau, 564 N. Prospect St., Merrill.
