Death: Mar. 21, 1933

World War I Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private First Class in the US Army in Company L, 354th Infantry, 89th Division. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action near Bois-de-Bantheville, France on October 31, 1918. His citation reads "Learning that two daylight patrols had been caught in No Man's Land and were unable to to return, Pfc. Funk and another stretcher bearer, upon their own initiative, made two trips 500 yards beyond our lines, under constant machine-gun fire, and rescued two wounded officers." (bio by: Don Morfe)
