My Daddy was borned and reared at Marsalis (commonly known as Crossroads).
He attend Athens High School and complete 10 grade.
Growing up, Daddy was teaser and prankster (help put the wagon on top of the Athens High School.)
He was generally a farmer with fishing and coon hunting a favorite passtime.
On 29 Oct 1942, Daddy enter the army at Drewfield, Tampa, Fl. in 320th Signal Company Wing. He was in basic training and served as an radio operator. He was in combat in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Eameto Medal, Meritorws Unit Award, and World Was II medal. He was released at Camp Shelby, Mississippi 9 Dec 1945 as a Cpl.
Daddy was employed by Skelly Oil Company on 1 Sept 1950 as a roustabout in Athens. Since then he has worked in other Louisiana cities (Harrisonburg and Lisbon) and Mississippi (Stringer). He has spent the last eleven years as a pumper in Athens.
On 10 Sept 1975, Daddy was among a group of Skelly Oil Company employees honored for their years of service at a special service recognition dinner held at the Pompeian Court Mayo Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahama. He was recognition in honored for twenty-five years+ of service in the Skelly's domestic exploration and prodction department by President James E. Hara.
Daddy was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Marsalis, La. where he served as Vice-President from 31 Dec 1984 to present 16 Mar 1991. He lived on RR#1, Box 72C.
Daddy also enjoyed car racing and Country and Western music.
In the last twenty years of his life, Daddy suffer a lengthly illness with emphsema from 1975 untill his death on 17 March 1991.
