Jonathan Richard "Jon-Boy" Sterk, 27, of East Wenatchee entered heaven on Saturday, July 9, 2005, surrounded by his family and church family at Central Washington Hospital of Complications from a lifelong struggle with Cerebral Palsy. He was born on April 9, 1978, at Mishawaka, Indiana to Pastor John and Darla Sterk. They moved to the Wenatchee area in March of 1979. Jonathan attended special education schools in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, graduating from Eastmont High School in 1997. Although there were many medical complications in Jonathan's life, it was filled with much happiness and joy. He will be remembered for his heart-warming smile and laughter. In his own way, he was a blessing to all.
The story of Jonathan's life would not be complete unless we mentioned those who helped in special ways. Duretta Squetimkin (Wa-Wa) was his babysitter and care giver for most of his life. Mary Wawers provided respite care for many years to help the family. His aunt Patty Galloway was always there with a helping hand. The local medical community was a true blessing and help. The family wishes to thank his personal physician, Dr. Eisert for his compassionate care. At times he was assisted by Dr. Dominguez and Dr. Baumeister. In Jonathan's final days, we appreciated very deeply the concern and care from Dr. Milnes, Dr. Walling, nurses and staff at Central Washington Hospital. We would also like to give a special word of appreciation to Jonathan's cousin, Rob Goff of Spokane Valley, for his professional services in helping to direct the funeral.
Jonathan is survived by his parents, John and Darla Sterk of East Wenatchee; his sister, Melyssa Sachse (Barron) of Omak, his sister, Brooke Sterk at home; his grandparents, Bob and Bev Wallace of Wenatchee; uncles and aunts, Jim and Patty Galloway of East Wenatchee, and Ray and Jan Blum of East Wenatchee, Bill and Brenda Bendel of Lynn Haven, Florida.
He is also survived by numerous cousins; three nieces, Makayla Sterk, Kamielle Sachse, Kendra Sachse; and one nephew, Dawson Sachse.
