Mrs. Mildred Hammett Nichols was born August 16, 1909 in Catchings, Mississippi, and passed away March 21, 2007 in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by her son, Lester Nichols and wife, Dorothy; daughter, Christelle Futch; grandchildren; Rick Futch and wife Lynn, Dianne Beasley, Rebecca McDaniel, Tina Nichols, Joel Nichols, Pamela Head, Steve Dupuy and wife, Janis, Stacey Holtzclaw and husband, Tom, Sonya Thibodeaux and husband, Kelly, Brenda Barnette and husband, Johnny; 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; brother, Paul Hammett and wife, Mildred; sisters; Margie Downing, May Eckemo, Caribel Norwood, and Rosale Richardson and husband, Rev. Robert Richardson.
Mrs. Nichols resided in Rayville, LA for most of her life where she was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was truly a gifted seamstress and created many beautiful things. She was much loved by her large family and a host of friends. She will be deeply missed because she touched so many lives in a positive and loving way.
Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents, Percy & Birdie Hammett, husband, John Will Nichols, daughter, Jean Dupuy Carroll; brothers, Leroy Hammett and Howard Hammett, great grandson, Damon Futch.
Visitation was Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers were Joel Nichols, Johnny Barnette, Steve Dupuy, Rick Futch, Tom Holtzclaw, and Kelly Thibodeaux.
