Born Aileen Poe Clemm to Henry C. Clemm and Margaret Ann (Roosevelt) Clemm. She was a veteran Broadway actress,some of the shows she appeared in were "Fast and Grow Fat" (1916), "Poor Little Ritz Girl" (1920), "A Royal Fandango" (1923), "Berlin" (1931), "Bright Honor" (1936), "Babes in Arms" (1937), "Feathers in a Gale" (1943), Six Characters in Search of an Author" (1955), and Fade Out-Fade In" (1964). Also known for "The Doctors" (1963), "The Big Story" (1949) and Armstrong Circle Theatre (1950).

She was married to Reginald Grant and Charles Eggleston.
