Robert G. (Bob) Sellers, Sr., 89, of 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, Pa., and Cape May, New Jersey, passed away September 13, 2009 in Cape May. Born September 21, 1919 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Marguerite Gibbs Sellers. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the George C. Hull Bible Class. He was a 1937 graduate of Chambersburg High School and a 1939 graduate of Eckels School of Embalming in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a licensed funeral director all his life. A WWII Veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii. He was a fourth generation funeral director for over 60 years in Chambersburg. The Sellers family Funeral Homes were begun in 1850 by his grandfather, Daniel A. Sellers, who was a cabinetmaker and undertaker in St. Thomas, Pa.
He is survived by two daughters, Roberta A. (Robin) Sellers, Chambersburg, Betsy (Mrs. William) Steinbrink, Cleveland, Ohio; two sons, Robert G. (Jr.), Santa Cruz, California, William F. "Bill" (husband of Kristin) Sellers, Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Scott and Laura Steinbrink and William F. (Sharkey) Sellers, Chambersburg; a sister, Helen Gillan, Chambersburg, a niece and two nephews.
