Elias Forcade was taken suddenly ill at an early hour last Wednesday morning.
Doctors were summoned at once and everything possible was done to save his life
but to no avail and at 4 o'clock Friday morning death came to relieve him of his
suffering. In the passing of Mr. Forcade, Saunders County loses one of its
oldest settlers, the family having arrived here in the early sixties. They made
their home in Morse Bluffs precinct after leaving North Bend, where they lived
three or four years before coming to Saunders County. We would like to tell our
readers about the early life of this good pioneer and will do so if we can
secure the information for our next issue. Elias was a good citizen and a good
neighbor, as the writer can testify, having known him intimately for more than
thirty years. The remains were laid to rest Sunday afternoon in Mt. Zion
cemetery beside his wife who died three or four years ago.
