Professional Football Player. For eleven seasons (1988 to 1998), he played at the defensive-tackle, nose-tackle and defensive-end positions in the National Football League with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears. Born Shawn Swaboda Lee, he attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and played collegiate football at North Alabama University. Selected by Tampa Bay during the 6th round of the 1988 NFL Draft, he appeared in 148 career regular season games recording 28.5 sacks. Lee established himself as one of the league's top defensive players and his pairing with Reuben Davis while with San Diego earned them the nickname "Two Tons of Fun"; they were a major factor in the 1994 Chargers reaching Super Bowl XXIX in 1995. During the 1995 season, Lee recorded a career-high 8 sacks for one year. Following his football career, Lee was involved in producing a variety of music albums. He died from cardiac arrest and double pneumonia. (bio by: C.S.)
